A Different Kind of December: Christmas on the Beach

Christmas on the Shore: A Holiday Wrapped in Sunlight There’s something quietly rebellious about spending Christmas on the beach. While the rest of the world pulls on wool sweaters, warms their hands around mugs of spiced cider, and braces for winter’s bite, you’re standing barefoot in warm sand, with the sun painting everything in gold. The ocean murmurs in the background like an easygoing caroler who only knows one verse but hums it proudly. Christmas ornaments sparkle in palm trees instead of pines. And the only frost you’ll see is the faint mist on the rim of a cold drink pulled from an ice chest. For many people, Christmas is tied tightly to a sense of tradition. Snow. Fireplaces. Cozy nights. A sense of retreat from the cold. I grew up with that version, too. But the first time I celebrated Christmas on the beach, everything I thought I knew about the holiday rearranged itself. It didn’t ruin my childhood nostalgia. It didn’t replace it. Instead, it carved out a warm, sun...

Cardi B cleared of assault charges in California court

Cardi B was cleared of assault on Tuesday in a $24 million civil trial in which she was accused of slashing a woman's face.

A hearing in Los Angeles last week featured the artist known for "WAP" wearing various wigs and engaging with lawyers, resulting in several notable moments.

A jury in the city dismissed claims by Emani Ellis, who alleged that the then-pregnant singer assaulted her on the way to a medical appointment in Beverly Hills in 2018.

Ellis, who is Black, accused Cardi B, who is also Black, of using racial slurs, spitting at her, and scratching her face during the incident.

Cardi B, 32, testified that Ellis had approached her aggressively, attempting to film her as she entered the doctor's office.

Her legal team stated that at the time, Cardi B was approximately four months pregnant and had taken care to keep her pregnancy private from public scrutiny.

Attorneys indicated that Ellis had attempted to intimidate the artist, leading to a heated exchange before medical staff intervened.

The jury rejected the claim for damages.

Following the verdict, Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, stated that she had not attacked Ellis. "I swear to God, I will say it on my death bed, I did not touch that woman. I did not touch that woman," she said.

She added that she would be more accommodating this time but warned that if anyone tries to file a frivolous lawsuit against her in the future, she would consider a countersuit to seek damages.

"Don’t you ever think that you’re going to sue me and I’m going to settle and just give you money because it’s not going to happen," she said.
