Chelsea striker Liam Delap may be out of action until December due to a hamstring injury sustained before the international break, according to manager Enzo Maresca.
Delap, who joined the team from Ipswich for £30 million ($40 million) in June, has participated in all three of Chelsea's Premier League matches this season.
However, he had to leave the field early during the 2-0 victory against Fulham on August 30.
Maresca mentioned that Delap's recovery timeline is estimated to be around 10 to 12 weeks.
In light of Delap's injury and following the departure of Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day, Chelsea has recalled forward Marc Guiu from a loan at Sunderland.
Maresca also has Joao Pedro available, who signed from Brighton in July, but acknowledged a shortage of forward options ahead of the upcoming derby against Brentford.
Maresca indicated that Guiu is currently the only option to play as a number nine, while Joao Pedro could also fill that role.
During the match against Fulham, Tyrique George was utilized as a striker, which remains a consideration.
England forward Cole Palmer is close to returning after sitting out the past two matches due to a groin injury and may play this weekend.
However, the inclusion of Joao Pedro, Estevao Willian, and Andrey Santos is uncertain, as they returned to England on Thursday after participating in Brazil's 1-0 defeat to Bolivia.
Moises Caicedo also returned late after playing for Ecuador against Argentina, with the high altitude of Brazil's match potentially affecting recovery time.
Maresca noted that the three Brazilian players had not trained upon their return but had engaged in recovery sessions.
Enzo Maresca pointed out that all of them remain uncertain for the match on Saturday. Winger Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly progressing well since joining from Manchester United, though he is not yet fully fit.
Chelsea is currently positioned second in the Premier League after three matches this season.
The club has recently faced charges from the Football Association for 74 alleged breaches of rules regarding payments to agents from 2009 to 2022, primarily concerning the period when Roman Abramovich owned the club.
Maresca stated that he is not personally informed about the situation and prefers to concentrate on aspects of the game that he can influence, expressing that the players do not seem overly concerned about the matter.
