'Odemwingie is one great human being, I'll keep in touch with him for life'- Rotherham coach says as Osaze leaves club after 3 months

Rotherham United’s coaching staff has praised Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie after he left the club following a short spell, describing him as “one great human being” and saying he would remain in touch with him for life.

The emotional reaction came after Odemwingie ended his time at the Championship club just a few months after joining.

Odemwingie joined Rotherham United on a short-term deal as he looked to regain fitness and secure regular playing time. However, his stay was brief, lasting only about three months before both parties decided to part ways.

The former Super Eagles forward, known for his pace and experience in the Premier League, had been brought in to strengthen the squad during a difficult period.

Rotherham caretaker manager Paul Warne spoke warmly about the Nigerian striker, making it clear there was no bad blood over his departure.

Warne explained that Odemwingie had communicated honestly about his future and desire for more regular football elsewhere. Despite the short stay, the coach expressed deep respect for the player.

He said Odemwingie was a “great human being” and added that he would keep in contact with him for the rest of his life, highlighting the positive relationship they shared during his time at the club.

According to reports, Odemwingie’s decision to leave was influenced by his desire for consistent playing time and a better opportunity to continue his career elsewhere.

The club accepted his decision without controversy, emphasizing professionalism and mutual understanding between both sides.

Even though his spell was short, his attitude and experience left a strong impression on the coaching staff.

Odemwingie, who has played for clubs including West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City, had joined Rotherham at a stage in his career where short-term contracts became more common.

His time at the club was part of his late-career journey as he looked for opportunities to stay competitive in professional football.

Although Peter Odemwingie’s time at Rotherham United was brief, it ended on a positive note filled with mutual respect.

The heartfelt praise from the Rotherham coach showed the striker’s impact went beyond the pitch, leaving behind goodwill and professional admiration.

In football, not every spell is long-lasting—but relationships built on respect often endure far beyond the final match.
